#2 Seed from West | Video

Lee Timmerman | 3/12/2013

Less than a second separated the Patriots from sending the WDA tournament championship into overtime. Senior Hannah Larson made what would have been the game tying three pointer, but the final buzzer sounded before her release, giving Bismarck the win.

The loss means the Patriots are the number two seed from the west for the state tournament. This was just the second loss Century had to a West Region team this year and the players see those games as real eye-openers.

"It`s possible to be beat and we take from it that we just need to work harder, play better defense and score," said senior Katie Chase.

"We have to work hard every single play and we need to play together and we need to play offense more," said sophomore Jordyn Jossart.

The reigning state champions return just one starter from last years team and that`s State Tournament MVP Hannah Larson. However, Coach Metz says his team has developed a ton of experience from both this season and last year`s playoffs.

"These girls have grown a ton throughout the season we couldn`t be happier from where they come from where we started and where they go us too. We`re very happy with where we`re at but we`re not satisfied for where we`re at. We think that just the experience of these girls and what they had last year with the situation. They were all within the varsity last year. They were there when we won the region. They were there when we won the state tournament. So they have that part of that experience with them too and hopefully thats going to carry over."

Hannah Larson is the also the focus of this week`s Sports Spotlight. You`ll hear more about her and a unique nickname that has stuck with her tomorrow.
