Shaunna Knife was named first team all-conference, first team all-defense and also the defensive player of the year. The senior from Bottineau led the league in blocks and finished 5th in rebounding.
Ali Collins was the other first team all-conference selection for U-Mary. The Mandan native finished 6th in the Northern Sun in points, 8th in rebounds, 2nd in assists and 6th in steals.
The other Marauder to be honored by the Northern Sun is Brittney Dietz, who made the all-freshman team. Dietz came off the bench and averaged just over 9 points and 3 rebounds a game. She also led the team in free throw percentage. Here`s Shaunna Knife talking last week about the impact Dietz had in her first season on the court.
"She`s very important to us and she contributes a lot in rebounding and defense. She`s smaller in size but she can also play defense down there tough. She`s come off the bench and scores for us, so it`s really good and she`s a really good player."
Knife and Collins both went over a thousand career points this season. They are just the 13th and 14th Marauders to ever reach that milestone.
