Skyhawks Headed to State | Video

Scott Westerberg | 3/4/2013

For the third time in the last four years the Shiloh Christian boys will represent Region Five at the State B. The Skyhawks reached the state tournament with a 72-41 win over Garrison on Friday.

Leading the way for Shiloh in the championship game was Donovan Lambert. The senior hit seven of his teams eleven 3-pointers, including five in the third quarter. Fellow senior Walter Bearstail added four threes of his own.

"Both Donovan and Walter are very good shooters and obviously if you`re going to do well against really good teams, you can defend and rebound, but you also go to score. Hopefully both those guys will be able to feel comfortable and make their shots," said head coach Mike Dwyer.

Coming into the season, Shiloh returned just two players with varsity experience, but the team was still confident a return trip to state was possible.

"I had faith cause I knew we had the pieces to it, but it`s just all about the experience going into it, but now that we`re here we got the experience," explained Lambert.

"I think we all had an idea cause we`re all pretty talented and we all can play defense, and I guess defense was probably going to get us through it," added Bearstail.

First up for the Skyhawks is Milnor. The Bison beat Oak Grove to win Region 1.
