Demons vs. Patriots | Video

Lee Timmerman | 2/5/2013

Like most years, there is a lot on the line when Bismarck High and Century hit the ice tonight. Not only is it a big rivalry game, but both teams are still in the mix for the West Region regular season title.

Besides the importance it has on the standings, this game is also one of the more emotionally intense match-ups of the regular season.

"The atmosphere is a big part of it with the band playing and the seats full, just your emotions are rushing too and stuff so it brings a whole different feeling to the game," said Bismarck High senior Cooper Cox.

"They know each other extremely well and there`s little rivalries with each other, so it adds a little extra with a lot of people in the building and that adds to that "X" factor, so it`s a fun game for those kids," said Bismarck High coach Mike Peluso.

Even though there`s only a week left in the regular season, very little has been decided in terms of seeding for the Region tournament. That means both the Demons and the Patriots have some exciting hockey still to play, including tonight.

"The last week of the season the top four spots are still wide open, so it`s going to be a great week. Bismarck is playing very well. They had a great weekend. They`re hitting on all cylinders right now, so it`s going to be a fun one," said Century coach Troy Olson.

"We`re going to have to move the puck and move our feet. They`re a fast team and they`re going to come out swinging, so we got to be ready for that," said Century senior Nash Anderson.

Coach Olson will not be on the bench tonight. By rule, he has to miss the game after being ejected in Saturday`s loss to Fargo Davies.
