You may remember there was some poor weather prior to the Civic Center Jamboree a couple of weekends ago and not every team made it to town. Grant County and South Border postponed their game, and tonight the re-scheduled match-up is at Shiloh Christian`s gym.

The Hoopster put high-praise on the Mustangs before the start of the season and picked them to win Region-3. But South Border had to deal with an injury to Michael Jacobson and it has a rookie head coach.

"We`re not the top dog. We came in and we were fourth in the region last year and fourth in the district. We came out and we didn`t play very well which people aren`t saying we`re the top dog people are saying we got a lot of improvement to make," said coach Robbie Lukens.

"Mikey getting hurt in football hurt a lot that`s 20 points we had to make up and so we started out a little rough but with him coming back we`re starting to play a lot better now so it`s starting to come around," said junior Adam Jacobson.

One of the moves Lukens made was move Jacobson from forward to point guard plus Coach has the kids working more on an important part of the game.

"The higher emphasis on defense. Last year was more about scoring but this year I think it`s more on defense," said junior Ross Knoll.

"Probably our size. We score pretty well in the post and we`re rebounding pretty well and hitting outside shots too. So we`re doing pretty well in that," Jacobson said.

"Obviously with a more experienced team we are much more committed to what we`re doing," Lukens said.
