The season didn`t start like the Braves would have liked. The Mandan girls got beat in Jamestown last Friday. But that should not be the way the rest of the season goes for the Braves.

That`s because Head Coach Len Stanley has some experienced players returning to the team. Players like Lexi Goldade, McKayla Howling Wolf and Courtney Goetz. Those players will be tested tonight against Century.

"We`re going to have to deal with their pressure. Hannah Larson is one of the elite if not the elite post player in the state. We`re going to have to somehow control her. I don`t know that we`ll stop her but you try to hold her down some what and try and key on some of their other kids but they`re solid, they`re solid even though they lost a lot from last year," Stanley said.

The Braves figure to be in the thick of the WDA this year and it`s a conference that seems to be top heavy with good teams.

"Century and Bismarck are the big two and obviously Jamestown. We just found that out we can`t take those guys for granted so Bismarck and Century and we have our eye on Century next," Goetz said.

The girls play the second half of the doubleheader tonight. The Braves and Patriots boys are already underway.
