New Policy For Acquisitions | Video

Julie Leonardi | 3/6/2013

The deadline for voluntary property acquisitions for flood damaged houses has passed, but Ward County may make some changes to its policy. Originally, several residents in the flood zone decided not to participate in the buyout hat would allow a future levee to be built. But now, a few of those people have changed their minds and the county will be changing its policy to give those people the option to participate once again.

Dana Larson, County Engineer, explained, “A few people have changed their minds, so we want to be fair. If we offered it to some, we want to offer it to everyone.”

The Ward County Commission will meet in two weeks to discuss exactly what the new policy will be.
