We all know North Dakota winters can be a bit harsh, especially if your car sits outside overnight. Then, you have to go out to your car, turn on your heat and defroster and start scraping, which can take up a lot of time. Well, this may make things easier. It`s called the Pro Trek Weather Shield and it will keep away all of the snow and ice from your windshield.
Seems easy, right? But, does it actually work? Well, "Don`t Buy It, Until We Try It."
"We see a lot of where they use stuff they are not supposed to be using to remove the ice from their windshield and that causes scratches and damages to the glass," said Economy Auto Glass Manager Khris Fredrickson.
For Fredrickson, the winter means more windshields are being damaged and replaced.
"I think it`s, you`re going to work in the morning and you forget to start your car and whatever and you`re in a hurry, you know, and you use something you’re not supposed to use or get too aggressive."
So, we decided to put the snow scraper aside and try out the Pro Tek Weather Shield to keep the snow and ice off our windshield.
We pulled it out of the package and unfolded it.
Fredrickson said, "You just put the cover over there, it`s just a simple pull and you`re on your way."
After securing the Pro Tek Weather Shield in place, it moved around some with the wind, but the magnets still held it in place. Then, we poured water over it to find out if it’s really weather resistant.
The Pro Tek repeals the water against the windshield, helping to keep it dry.
"If you had that on there, I guess, it wouldn`t have to, you know, wait for the window to defrost or would use something that would scratch or ruin it," said Fredrickson.
The biggest challenge with the Pro Tek is getting it back into the bag. The magnets helped keep the shield in place and prevented water from going onto the windshield. So, I think I’ll be trading in my snow scraper for a Pro Tek Weather Shield.
This week’s “Don’t Buy It, Until We Try It,” earns a thumbs up.
