Oil and Gas Production Up | Video

Jennifer Joas | 2/15/2013

Oil production in North Dakota is back on track. In November, it took a two percent dip in production for the first time in 19 months. The Department of Mineral Resources just released the December numbers, and oil production increased to 768,000 barrels a day.

The department is also calling a new well near Watford City remarkable, for producing four times the amount of oil a well normally produces and eight times the amount of natural gas.

"It`s was your typical two mile long well. But it had more frack stages and a high percentage of high strength ceramic proppant in it. And so, it`s just an amazingly good well. And we love to see those kind come on," said Director Lynn Helms.

There was also an increase in oil exports through rail from 57 percent in November to 64 percent in December.
