Alzheimer`s Expected To Rise By 2050 | Video

Sarahbeth Ackerman | 2/8/2013

According to Trinity Health, Alzheimer`s Disease is expected to triple in the next 40 years. One of the main reasons why the numbers are rising is because many of the baby boomers are aging and as we age, the risk factors of Alzheimer`s increase.

"The proportion of the population, in general, is definitely increasing. It`s not a secret to anyone. The proportion of the geriatric population is increasing and that`s how we are going to see more geriatric syndromes including Alzheimer`s Disease," said Georges El Hoyek with Trinity Health.

Dr. Hoyeck says when we reach 2050, around 13 to 15 million patients could possibly have Alzheimer`s Disease.
