Truck Falls into Lake | Video

Chris Williams | 2/7/2013

Around 4:30 this afternoon the Williams County Sheriff`s Department and Ray Ambulance and Fire responded to a call of a truck falling through the ice on Lake Sakakawea. Witnesses say they saw the truck drive over a weak spot in the ice and fall through.

There were three people in the truck. They were all able to climb to the back of the truck, which was sticking out of the water. A couple of ice fisherman saw what happened and drove over to help the three stranded people.

One fisherman agreed to go on camera, if he could remain anonymous.

“They were standing in the back of the pickup really wet, really cold. We took some planks out of the back of our pickup, threw them out across the ice, threw tow straps to them and just pulled them off one by one. Threw everything out of the back of the pickup and brought them back to the shore,” the fisherman said.

The three individuals from the truck were checked out in an ambulance. According to a the Williams County Sheriff`s Department, aside from being cold and wet, there were no major injuries.

The truck is still stuck in the lake. The Williams County Sheriff`s department says they will release a statement tomorrow.
