Flu Prevention At Businesses | Video

Van Tieu | 1/27/2013

More than 2,800 cases of the flu have been reported since the beginning of the year, including eight deaths. According to the North Dakota Department of Health, more than 200 new influenza cases were reported in North Dakota last week. That`s down from more than 300 recorded the week before.

Still, businesses are taking precautions to help prevent the spread of the flu. Especially places like gyms, where customers share and touch equipment used by many other people. Gold`s Gym in Bismarck makes sure their equipment stays sanitized throughout the day.

"We`ll require them to clean machines off after we work, their work out, of course. That`s us walking around and reminding them and doing our own cleaning. We have a cleaning crew that comes here every night and we have cleaners throughout the day. And we clean all day long. Especially with the winter and so we want to keep it a safe environment to work out, and there`s a lot of flu going on. That hit home for us too. We just want to help out the best we can," said owner Aaron Moos.

The North Dakota Department of Health says the single best way to prevent the flu is to get a vaccination every season.
