Reading With Dad | Video

Kristin Clouston | 1/25/2013

A deployed soldier and his son shared an experience today some parents and kids take for granted. Pioneer first grader Ben Richter read "Hot Wheels Extreme Stunts" to his dad, Staff Sergeant Curtis Richter, via Skype. Richter is part of the Bismarck based 1919th Contingency Contracting team and was deployed to Afghanistan in December.

"If you saw his smile, he`s just been beaming all week, when he found out he gets to see his dad and gets to read to his dad, so it`s worth it. Technology is the best way to go," said Title I Reading Specialist Marcia Wilkens.

Ben`s reading specialist and his dad are going to try to coordinate more reading times. The 1919th will be coming home late this year.
