Ward County Commission Moves Forward on Projects | Video

Amy Fox | 1/24/2013

The Ward County Commissioners and Citizen Commission met today to talk about the new courthouse administration building, jail expansion and courthouse renovation project. With all of the growth going on downtown, one of the major concerns is parking. The commissioners discussed and approved a proposal to rent the CP Rail space for 3-5 years to provide additional parking spaces.

Also, preliminary designs for the new administration building and jail expansion were presented. With this only being the first step in the planning process, there are details to be worked out.

"If we can get input, if anyone has more ideas, we just want everyone to be on the same page. And, we want everyone that was involved to be aware of whatever we are doing and where we are going with this,” said Commissioner Jerome Gruenberg.

The Ward County Commissioners and Citizen Committee will meet again on February 14. They hope to have blueprints finalized by the early summer with construction starting in the fall.
