North Dakota Army National Guard members who were stationed in the southwest part of the United States for most of last year will remain on mission, but with a new location. Soldiers with the 1st Battalion, 112th Aviation Regiment out of Bismarck have been assisting U.S. Customs and Border Protection in Arizona since February 2012. This year, their mission will continue in Texas.

"For such a small team of North Dakota Guardsmen to accomplish so much in less than a year is incredible yet not surprising," said Maj. Gen. David Sprynczynatyk, North Dakota adjutant general.

From March through October of last year, ND soldiers seized 15,656 pounds of drugs, apprehended 1,077 people and conducted 10 search and rescue missions.
