Miss ND Wins Talent Portion of Miss America | Video

Chris Williams | 1/11/2013

This year’s Miss North Dakota, Rosie Sauvageau, won the preliminary talent contest at the Miss America competition last night. Sauvageau performed a piano and vocal performance of Bob Dylan`s "Make you Feel my Love", and she clearly impressed the judges in Las Vegas, just like she did the judges at the state competition in Williston.

Miss North Dakota Board President Marilyn McGinley says the talent competition accounts for 35 percent of the total vote, improving Sauvageau’s chances of making the Top 10. If she makes the top 10, she would be the fourth contestant to do so since 1949.

“It`s nice to have a Miss North Dakota in that spot because we haven`t had it for awhile. So I think North Dakota should be proud. Rosie is a wonderful, wonderful human being. She is a role model for the youth of our state, and that`s one of the things we really like in a Miss North Dakota,” McGinley said.

The top 10 will be featured on the last night of the Miss America Competition at 8:00 p.m. Saturday.
