In-Drive Car Monitors | Video

Joel Porter | 1/10/2013

Safe drivers could potentially save even more on their car insurance premiums, as long as they don`t mind their insurance company watching them even closer. Beginning this year, State Farm began offering the program, In-Drive, to North Dakota policy holders.

The device is installed in a vehicle and monitors a driver`s habits. That includes how fast you go, how far you travel and how hard you slam on the brakes.

"And so this In-Drive network offers things to parents to where they can track where their teens are driving, how they`re driving and are they speeding and different things and it just gives tips on how they should drive better," said State Farm agent Roberta Flach-Storm.

Customers pay a monthly fee for In-Drive and State Farm may deduct a small percentage from drivers` premiums.
