Minot Car Burglaries | Video

Julie Leonardi | 1/3/2013

A Minot man was arrested for breaking into several cars early Thursday morning. Brandan Leroy Podrunchny, 18, was charged with two counts of unlawful entry into motor vehicles. Around 2:00 a.m., Minot police received a call saying Podrunchny was breaking into cars on the 700 block of 27th Street Northwest in Minot.

Officer Charles Laboy, Minot Police Department, said this type of crime is very common, so drivers should take precautions. “At all times lock your vehicle, and doesn’t matter when you`re at. We are in Minot and a lot of people think Minot is safe and you can leave your vehicle running, keys in it and stuff like that. But, unfortunately, it`s come to the point where you can`t do things like that anymore you have to lock your vehicle whatever valuables you have in your vehicle. The old adage, if it`s out of sight it`s out of mind.”

Minot Police Department reminds you to lock up items, like your GPS or computer, in your glove box or trunk.
