Busiest Cab Day of the Year | Video

We`re only a few hours away from 2013, and many people in Minot are celebrating with a drink or two.

Nobody wants to get slapped with a DUI, so that means a lot of people are calling for a cab ride home.

For cab companies in Minot, New Years Eve is the busiest night for taxis.

At Central Cab, they`ve been preparing for weeks, making sure they have enough vehicles and drivers, and adding another phone line.

And, with hundreds of people expected to get a taxi, some say it`s a good indication people are being responsible.

"People are starting to realize from their friends or somebody they know or work with, whatever, has it happen to them, and they`re thinking a little more, it`s probably not worth it. Like I said, $7-8 to get across town, it is well worth it to take a cab and it`s safer,” said Central Cab Manager Chris Braun.

If you`re planning to catch a cab when the bars close, Braun recommends calling around midnight.
