Shoppers Going Online for Cyber Monday Deals | Video

Jessica Roose | 11/26/2012

Just because Black Friday is over doesn`t mean shoppers are done getting deals on holiday gifts. Some are logging on to take advantage of Cyber Monday sales. Many shoppers are starting to pay more attention to the sales on the Monday after Thanksgiving, saying they don`t want to deal with the Black Friday crowds.

Tracey Weber is done with her holiday shopping and she did almost all of it with her fingertips.

"I went battling the crowds for quite a few years and learned my lesson the hard way and that`s why I shop online now," she said.

While there were definitely some great doorbuster sales on Black Friday she says you can get just as good of deals if you know where to look online.

"I developed the habit of Googling or using sites like Retail Me Not and Googling promo codes and about half a dozen times now shopping online. I`ve used a promo code, where I get free shipping or twenty percent off or deals like that. So to me those replace the deals you run into in the store."

Even with deals many shoppers broke the bank this weekend. According to the National Retail Federation the average shopper spent $423, with total spending reaching over $59 billion.

Many of the chain stores that had Black Friday sales slashed their prices once again for Cyber Monday. While she shopped at some of those stores, Weber says it`s not necessarily where she looks first.

"I find really what I want out of Christmas, being able to personalize things rather than grabbing something off the shelf that you`ve seen is from a department store, I`ve seen that somewhere. I like using some of the online places that let you personalize things."

She says her first year shopping online was a success and she looks forward to avoiding the long lines at department stores the rest of the holiday season.

The deals aren`t over yet. You can still find sales on most department store websites, Amazon and Ebay.
