Salvation Army Goals for This Year | Video

Jessica Roose | 11/23/2012

If you were out shopping today you may have noticed the volunteers ringing bells at the salvation army kettles around town. They started for the season earlier this month at 13 locations around Bismarck and Mandan. The Salvation Army hopes to raise at least $105,000. Last year they were able to collect $112,000.

Caption Tim Sell says all of the money raised from the kettles stays in the community.

"When people come in we want to be able to have the dollars to assist them for whatever need arises at the time. Two weeks might not be soon enough to put out a plea, to send out letters, to put something even on television. So to have those extra funds from the kettle campaign for our general discretions is really important."

They will be collecting donations at the kettle sites through Christmas Eve. You can also sign up to volunteer by calling 223-1889 and asking for Tammy.
