Minot High Teacher Wins Grant

A Minot High School teacher has won national recognition and a grant for an innovative teaching program. Renee Merion, who teaches language arts, was one of 100 teachers nationwide who was awarded a $2,000 ING Unsung Heroes grant.

Merion will use the money to help fund her winning innovative idea, "Write On!" Her program is designed to focus on interactive, on-line journaling through the use of laptops and online tools.

She will now compete with the other winners for one the top three prizes of additional grants of $5,000, $10,000 or $25,000.
