"We have dogs that love to do rally obedience and it`s a fun activity partnership with your dog," said Barb. "We do practices throughout the year. We get to compete with our dogs and win prizes"
Lucy and Meau are competing in the Bismarck Kennel Club Dog show, an event that brings out the spirit of competition of hundreds of dogs inside the VFW sports complex.
"Our dogs, they love to participate," said Dave. "They love to be out socialize with other dogs, meet with other people. So its not just sitting around home watching TV or playing around the yard by themselves, so we like to get out and play with them."
Lucy and Meau compete in the rally obedience event, which can feature any dogs, not just pure breds. Owners and spectators can also shop around for pooch themed products.
"Who doesn`t love dogs, I mean really, who doesn`t?" said coordinator, Lori Ell. "They can come to a show, maybe get a chance to pet one."
"It`s very hardwork but gratifying at the end. They say they really like it here," said judge Jolene Clemmons.
It was Lucy`s turn in the obedience rally. She jumped, sat and laid down. And at the end of her event she left the ring a winner.
"I`m so proud of her because she`s listening to me and it`s things you can do with your dog that isn`t just hooking on a leash and going for a walk around the block or sitting on the couch," said Barb. "Its an actual partnership obedience course that you go through and you have to follow all the signs and your dog needs to be able to know what your wanting from them and perform it and it`s awesome."
The day`s competitions are over for Lucy and Meau but tomorrow they`ll be back it with hundreds of other dogs.
