It’s a Moldy Situation | Video

Amy Fox | 6/20/2012

Water spilling over the banks of the Mouse river left about 4,000 buildings in Minot under water. Once the buildings started to dry out, mold began to form in every possible place, including furniture, walls, floors and ceilings.

Jared Noland from Affinity Flood and Fire Service has been dealing with the moisture problem both as a flood victim and as a contractor.

He`s seen firsthand the serious health problems mold can cause.

"Some of the health concerns that I`ve seen with mold is respiratory distress,” said Noland. “It`s easier to catch colds and flus. It then escalates up to continual bronchus, phenomena. Things like that."

At 6:30, Noland plans to attend the Environmental Health Forum at MSU tonight that is open to the public. Medical professionals will discuss the symptoms, treatment, and precautionary measures associated with mold.
