Gypsyfest Kicks Off | Video

By Evan Kruegel | 6/15/2012

The Gypsyfest Music Festival is just 15 miles west of Williston. You won`t find any semi-trucks out here, just camping, friendly people and a lot of great music.

"There isn`t a lot of entertainment in Williston," said event organizer and landowner William Falcon. "You can bring your kids, you can bring your dogs, and just relax and enjoy yourselves and listen to music all day long."

The site sits along Falcon Creek, just east of Trenton. The Falcon family spent months clearing out underbrush before building the amphitheatre.

"I`ve put on festivals before, but I never really had the place to do it, the place that I thought really fit. And this place fits, this is a really good fit for a festival."

The event had around 300 attendees last year. This year, they expect closer to 700. The rules are quite simple: no glass and no fighting. Attendees can come out for the day, or stay and camp out at night. Either way, it`s the only event of its kind anywhere near Williston.

"I don`t know of any festivals in this area for miles and miles and miles."

If you`re looking for a music-filled weekend around Williston, Gypsyfest might just be your best bet.
