11-year old Tyler Sullivan never made it into school on Friday, but he has a pretty good excuse.

"I was sitting in the front row," recalls Tyler. "It was pretty exciting."

Tyler and his dad listened to President Obama address supporters at Honeywell in Golden Valley, Minnesota, but it`s what happened afterwards that left Tyler speechless.

"I had a chance to shake his hand," said Tyler. "The President said, `you must be missing school.`"

The President then took out a notepad and a pen and wrote Tyler an official excused absence note, complete with a presidential signature.

"I was like really?!" said Tyler. "I kind of want to brag at school and say `look what I got!`"

The note read: "Mr. Ackerman, Please excuse Tyler. He was with me. Barack Obama."

The 5th grader from Rochester now hopes his executive excuse holds up come Monday.

"I`m going to bring it and say `This is why I was gone!`"
