Spring Seeding Progressing | Video

Nick Dreyer | 5/7/2012

North Dakota farmers continue to make nice gains in spring seeding. So far, 82 percent of the spring crop has been planted and over a third of it has emerged.

Nearly three quarters of the barley acres are in the ground. That`s a far cry from last year when only two percent of the barley was planted. It`s also well ahead of the five year average of 32 percent.

A lot of corn is going in this year in North Dakota and farmers have well over half of it planted. Over half of the canola is in the ground too. Thirty-seven percent of the flaxseed is in and 11 percent of the soybeans are in.
