Hi, I’m Erin Lamp. I am a National Academy of Sports Medicine certified personal trainer. I have numerous certifications in many different aspects of group exercise. I have been working at Gold’s Gym in Bismarck since February 2008. My passion for fitness started when I was young. I grew up playing sports against my two older brothers and they never took it easy on me because I was a girl, or smaller or younger. This may be where I developed my “no mercy” personality. My love of sports led me to a career as a high school math teacher, basketball and volleyball coach. After the birth of my first child (and a 65 lb weight gain), I fell into the “working mom” routine. Take care of work, family, home, and if time – me. As an athletic, active person, I never really had to worry about my weight. That changed after my daughter. At my daughter’s first birthday party, I still had 30 lbs of baby weight to lose. I made a decision to get me back. I started working out again and after three months, I had lost three lbs. Yes – three lbs. I was very frustrated and discouraged. I had not accepted that I would have to change the way I eat (and feed my family) if I was going to see changes. I finally put it together and lost my baby weight and about 10 more only to get pregnant six months later. After the birth of my second child, I was fortunate enough to stay at home with my two children. I started teaching group exercise classes, which lead to becoming a personal trainer, which lead to being asked to develop and run a weight loss and nutrition education program for a local clinic. After five years of on-the-job experience and learning everything I could about fitness and nutrition, I heard that Gold’s Gym was coming to Bismarck and I knew I needed to be a part of that tradition. I have been training and running boot camps for the past 10 months with more success than I could have scripted. The passion I brought with me to help people reach their goals and find their self confidence has been doused in gasoline and lit on fire. I currently run a program called Gold’s On the Go, in which we teach fitness classes at local businesses at noon and after work. I also teach group exercise classes in the club, train clients one-on-one and run the morning boot camp. It’s a great fit and there is no other job I would rather do.
