NICK DREYER
KMOT News Director, 6 & 10 Anchor
I grew up on farm west of Willow City, ND, but unlike many of my friends, farming never really peaked my interests. I didn't know what I wanted to do until my senior year English class. Our class assignment was to put on a mock newscast and wouldn't you know it, I was picked to be the news anchor. I knew from that point what I wanted to do and haven't looked back since.
I began working at KMOT in August of 2000 as a part-time photographer. I moved to full-time reporter in January 2001. That same year I received my broadcasting degree from Minot State University. In the fall of 2001 I became co-anchor of the Night Report , but with format changes I moved back to reporter. My position at KMOT grew into News Director in the fall of 2005. In the summer of 2008 I became the news anchor for our Evening and Night Reports . The job has taken me down to San Diego, CA to follow Marine boot camp and way up in the sky flying in an F-16 with the United States Air Force Thunderbirds. I guess the farm never really left me because in 2005 I began farming a piece of land near my hometown . It provides me great material for my weekly agriculture series called "On The Farm" during the growing season.
I am the youngest of 3 children. My older sister Vicki lives in Connecticut and my older brother Darren lives in Minot . My parents, Orlan and Lynne Dreyer, retired to Bottineau, ND in 2004. I enjoy listening to music, watching the NFL and NBA, and being with friends. |
